Tips to Achieving your 2005 Goals
by
Cheryl Mann
We've reached the
halfway point of 2005...where are you now with your goals? Have you
already achieved your 2005 New Year's Resolutions? What progress have
you made on the goals that matter most to you? Are you getting the results
you desire?
If all is going
well and you have either already achieved your desired results or you
are on track to complete those goals, congratulations! What will you
do to celebrate? And, what's next for you during the second half of
2005, since you have already been so successful? Please let me know
about your accomplishments so I can join in your celebration -- I'd
love to hear from you.
Not as far along
as you had hoped to be by now? I've heard from some of you that you're
concerned that you're not where you wanted to be by now. Don't worry
-- you still have time...but, you must start taking action NOW! Now
is a great time to take a look at the challenges you've been experiencing
so you can re-commit to your most meaningful goals for the rest of this
year.
Here are
5 tips to help you get back on track or stay on track to achieve your
desired results in 2005:
1. Measure
your progress with each of your 2005 goals
Is each one 0% complete, 50% complete, 80% complete? What's in the gap
between where you are now, and the results you ultimately wish to attain?
What needs to happen to close that gap?
2. Reconnect
with the vision you had at the beginning of the year
When you first set these goals, what did you want to accomplish by the
end of 2005? Why were those results important to you? Why are they still
important to you? What is the vision you are holding for the rest of
2005 for your personal life and your work life?
3. Revisit
the specific goals that you set
Are your goals Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, Time-Oriented?
Are they based on your values and priorities? If not, NOW is the time
to restructure your goals so you can achieve them this year. Make sure
that they are do-able so that you can achieve the results you truly
want!
4. Capture
your key learnings from the first half of the year
Where did you get stuck? What obstacles got in the way? What have you
learned about yourself and/or your goals that you will now do differently
moving forward?
5. Recommit
to your vision and your new/updated 2005 goals
In order to be successful, you MUST renew your commitment to yourself
and your goals! How will you know you are committed? Who else needs
to know about your commitments?
NOW is the time
to make some changes so that you can achieve your desired results by
the end of this year (or sooner!).
